Why weight loss plateau?

Your slower metabolism will slow your weight loss, even if you eat the same amount of calories that helped you lose weight. When the calories you burn equal the calories you eat, you hit a plateau. To lose more weight, you need to increase your physical activity or decrease the calories you consume. Accelerating your exercise regimen can help reverse the stagnation of weight loss.

By definition, a plateau occurs when caloric expenditure equals intake over time. In other words, the calories you consume are equal to the calories you burn, and the deficit no longer exists, which nullifies the body's need to extract calories from its reserves. Effects of experimental weight disturbance on skeletal muscle work efficiency, fuel utilization and biochemistry in human subjects. This initial loss, unfortunately, is half liquid and doesn't reflect the actual amount of fat tissue you've burned. A study published in the International Journal of Obesity found that sleeping the same number of hours and an adequate number of hours improved weight loss outcomes.

While losing weight may be your goal, don't forget that when you weigh less, your body needs fewer calories to function. However, many people reach a weight loss plateau, where their weight remains the same despite changes in diet and exercise. I have never received an explanation as to why my weight loss has stalled, so I assumed I was doing something wrong and gave up disappointed.
