Thermogenics
The ever ongoing quest for a thermogenic is one of the more understandable passions of the weight loss community. An effective thermogenic would be like the fountain of youth in comparison to mythical effects. After all, the idea of speeding up your metabolism, while raising your bodies temperature to literally burn away fats and calories, even at rest.
There have been numerous products that have come from this idea. One of the more believable of these is the chemical Hydroxycitric acid, or HCA. This is the active ingredient in the popular weight loss product Hydroxycut. Like Bitter Orange, this is an intense citric acid that is derived from tropical plants.
There are numerous reasons that hydroxycitric acid is so popular. It has been shown to metabolize lipids (fats and cholesterols) and inhibit carbohydrate absorption. It has been shown to decrease fat accumulation, storage, but only in lab animals. However, in humans, the following was discovered, in a double-blind, placebo-controlled, peer-reviewed study.
This supplement has some impressive recent studies including one in particular involving a 6 week period. The test involved 24 people (12 men 12 women), and for the first 2 weeks they were given a daily placebo, throughout the test period they maintained a healthy diet and exercise (no information is given concerning specifics). There was then a 2 week period to wash out period where they were given no supplements. The final two weeks Hydroxycitrate was administered with tomato juice (used as the placebo). The results: The results tended to show that 24 hour EI in humans was reduced and satiety was maintained. This is a very promising ingredient for diet pills.
Is it the miracle cure all? Probably not, but has it been shown to help? Yes, and that’s what most of us need. A little good, reliable help. We will be sure to keep an eye on other diet pills that include thermogenics and report to you the best thermogenics available on the market.
