Cayenne Pepper

Where the idea that spicy food would aid in weight loss is beyond me. But I am from Louisiana, so it is not unheard of, and the more I see it in the news, the more proof is found in the pudding. Albeit, the pudding will be very spicy. Cayenne pepper, like black pepper, is a thermogenic with potential to help you in your weight loss quest.

Many of the health advantages can be attributed to the Cayenne’s circulatory benefits. It has the ability to dilate the capillaries, thus improving overall blood flow, giving a sensation of warmth, increasing spread of anti oxidants, helping stomach troubles, and aiding with overall heart health.

Cayenne has possible thermogenic properties, which could lead to weight-loss, as can be felt when one consumes a lot of this spicy food. One of Cayenne’s most recognized benefits is aiding gastrointestinal disorders, to calm the stomach. This is tied to an increase in stomach secretions. Arthritis and joint pain can be aided by a cayenne topical ointment. Cayenne also has the ability to calm sore throats, for the same reason as it helps joint pains. Capsaicin in Cayenne temporarily causes the sensor cells to release their chemical neurotransmitters in the area, thus causing the nerves to stop sending the message of pain to the brain. Lastly, Cayenne peppers have antioxidant properties and may reduce allergies.

However, like other peppers and spicy food, Cayenne can be passed to the baby from lactating women. This may lead to an upset stomach in the baby. If consumed in to large quantities, heartburn may result.

So feel free to heat things up a little. Cook spicy, it requires less butter, and you should love the results.
